Workwear Is Fun Again with Style Fixe

By Denise Ho

Personal style changes as life changes. New job, new body, new routine, new sense of self. In this interview, the founder of Style Fixe shares workwear styling tips for women who want getting dressed to feel fun again. Her point of view is sharp and playful, with a love for bold proportions, menswear references, vintage finds, and styling details that make an outfit feel alive.

Denise: What Kind of Styling Do You Do?

Jenine: I’m a personal stylist and founder of Style Fixe. I work with women who love fashion, or want to love fashion, but somewhere along the way, getting dressed stopped feeling fun.

A lot of my clients are in their 40s and beyond, and they are navigating a new chapter in their career, body, lifestyle, or identity. My job isn’t to give them a uniform or tell them what they “should” wear at a certain age. It’s to help them figure out what feels like them now, and then push it just far enough to make getting dressed exciting again.

Denise: How Would You Describe Your Personal Style?

Jenine: My style is eclectic, editorial, and a little unpredictable. I love a ’70s reference, a great menswear moment, something vintage, or something slightly weird.

I’m much more interested in tension than perfection. Something polished with something undone. Masculine with feminine. Expensive with thrifted. That contrast is what makes the outfit feel most like me.

Denise: What Workwear Styling Ideas Are You Excited About?

Jenine: I’m obsessed with where workwear is going because it feels like we’ve finally moved past the idea that dressing professionally must mean disappearing into a sea of sensible basics.

I love exaggerated suiting, strong shoulders, ties, oversized trousers, leather, unexpected proportions, and pieces that borrow from traditional menswear. I actually just shot an entire editorial around corporate dressing because I’m so inspired by it right now.

The interesting part is taking those very serious “office” codes and making them feel sexy, irreverent, and personal.

Denise: What Would You Pack for a Work-Trip Capsule?

Jenine: I’d bring a crisp oversized button-down, a great blazer, and one top with personality, maybe sheer, printed, or sculptural.

For bottoms, I’d bring an incredible pair of wide-leg trousers and a midi-to-long skirt. Then a pointed-toe flat or loafer and a statement heel.

The key for me would be making sure everything can talk to everything else without looking like an obvious “capsule wardrobe.” I still want seven pieces to give me completely different characters depending on how I style them.

Accessories, like KITDO, can go a long way to add personality to your work attire while keeping it professional.

Denise: What Getting-Dressed Problem Did KITDO Help Solve?

Jenine: KITDO helps solve the problem of shape. Sometimes the clothes are right, but the proportion needs a little help.

An oversized blazer, a button-down, or a scarf can look great on the hanger but need a styling detail to make it feel intentional on the body. KITDO makes it easier to hold fabric in place, create structure, and shift the silhouette without changing the actual piece.

It is especially helpful for those moments when an outfit feels close, but not quite finished.

Denise: What Is Next for Style Fixe?

Jenine: I’m really interested in pushing Style Fixe further into the space between personal styling and creative direction.

I love working one-on-one with clients, but I’m also doing more editorial shoots, brand collaborations, and projects where I get to build an entire visual world around clothes.

I’ve spent a lot of my career helping women see themselves differently through style, and right now I’m excited to see how big I can make that idea.

Final Thoughts

The best workwear has personality. It can be polished without feeling flat. It can be professional without losing the person inside the clothes.

A strong blazer, an oversized trouser, a scarf at the hip, or a small styling tool like KITDO can completely shift the mood of an outfit.

When the proportions feel right and the details feel personal, getting dressed for work becomes much more than another task on the morning list. It becomes part of the day worth enjoying.
