What to Wear to the Nove Stylist Conference

What to Wear to the Nove Stylist Conference

By Natalie Wong

Dressing for the Nove Stylist Conference in NYC called for a clear point of view. If you are deciding what to wear to a stylist conference, choose pieces that feel personal and comfortable, with styling details that make the look feel intentional.

Dressing for a Room Full of Stylists

The Nove Stylist Conference brought together more than 50 stylists, each with a strong sense of personal style. In a room like this, the strongest outfits tend to feel authentic rather than trend-driven.

Two looks were chosen for the conference. One was for the drinks gathering the night before. The other was for the day of the event. Both outfits were easy to wear, with one styling detail that gave each look more individuality.

Outfit for a Stylist Conference Drinks Gathering

For the drinks gathering the night before the conference, the look was built around a vintage Comme des Garçons polka dot top, styled with a polka dot scarf and wide-leg jeans.

The scarf was secured with Kitdo styling clips under the arm to create a butterfly-like drape across the top. This gave the outfit more shape while keeping the overall look relaxed. For more ideas, see how to style scarves with Kitdo.

The polka dot on polka dot pairing added a playful point of view. Wide-leg jeans made the outfit feel more modern than black trousers would have. The denim created contrast against the vintage top, which helped the look feel less predictable.

Styling a Black Dress for a Stylist Conference

For the day of the Nove Stylist Conference, the look centered on a black dress. The dress was slightly too long, so Kitdo styling clips for dress length styling were used to shorten it to a more flattering length.

That small adjustment changed the proportion of the dress and gave the look a cleaner finish. It also made the dress easier to wear throughout the day, which is especially useful for a conference setting. See how to shorten a dress without tailoring for a closer look at this styling method.

Then I added a Comme des Garçons vintage jacket and a Tabi slip on to finish the look.

Why Kitdo Works for Stylist Conference Outfits

Kitdo styling clips are useful when an outfit needs a small adjustment without tailoring. They can help secure a scarf or refine a dress length while keeping the clothing unchanged.

For a stylist conference, details like proportion and styling can make a simple outfit feel more intentional. A scarf can become part of the silhouette. A dress can sit at the right length. With one small change, a familiar piece can feel ready for the event.

Two looks were chosen for the conference, with the same approach used in these fashion event outfit ideas: start with clothes that feel natural, then use one styling detail to make the look feel more considered.

Personal Style at the Nove Stylist Conference

The conference was filled with stylists who had a clear understanding of their own personal style. The most memorable looks felt confident without trying too hard.

That was the thinking behind both outfits. Each one felt effortless to wear while still showing personality through print and proportion.
