Stylist's Own: Nina’s Secrets to Effortless Travel Style

By Denise Ho

Polished with Personality: Inside Nina Piccini’s Travel Styling Philosophy

Nina’s styling DNA is polished with personality — intentional, versatile, and always a little unexpected. Whether she’s packing a carry-on or reworking a classic button-down, her approach proves that great style is about shape, proportion, and smart details that make everyday pieces feel fresh and refined.

Denise: To start, how would you describe your “Styling DNA” in just one sentence?

Nina: My styling DNA is polished with personality—I love creating looks that feel intentional, versatile, and a little unexpected.

Denise: Looking at your packing history, is there a “forever piece” that makes it into every suitcase? How do you keep it feeling fresh across different destinations and climates?

Nina: A great button-down is probably my forever piece—it works as a layering piece, a beach cover-up, tied over a dress, half-tucked with denim, or styled open over a tank. The magic is less about the item itself and more about styling it differently depending on the destination, proportions, and accessories.

Denise: We’ve all had that “nothing to wear” moment while staring into a hotel wardrobe. What’s your secret for reimagining the limited pieces you’ve brought on a trip?

Nina: I think “nothing to wear” usually comes from styling habit, not lack of options. My trick is to stop repeating the same formulas—change proportions, shift the silhouette, add structure, use a styling tool like Kitdo to create shape, or style a piece in a way you wouldn’t normally wear it at home.

Denise: In the world of “vacation fashion,” how do you distinguish between a passing holiday trend and a versatile piece that truly fits your travel identity?

Nina: I ask: Would I wear this beyond this exact trip? A trend can be fun, but versatility matters more to me. If I can style it at least three different ways and it still feels authentically like me—not just “vacation me”—it earns the suitcase space.

Denise: If you had to live out of a “carry-on capsule”  for a week-long trip, how would you keep your look feeling fresh every single day?

Nina: By focusing on shape and styling instead of packing “outfits.” I’d choose pieces that can mix easily but create different moods—a structured layer, a relaxed option, versatile shoes, and pieces that can be transformed with styling tricks. Accessories and small tweaks make a huge difference when your wardrobe is limited.

Denise: What was the very first “styling frustration” you managed to solve once you had a Kitdo clip in your kit?

Nina: Honestly? Fit flexibility. Sometimes a piece is almost right but needs a little shaping to create the silhouette you actually want. Having a tool that lets you quickly adjust fit or proportions opens up way more styling possibilities without altering the garment.

Denise: Finally, can you walk us through a favorite “style hack” where Kitdo helped you transform one basic staple into three completely different looks?

Nina: A classic oversized button-down is perfect for this.

  • Look 1: Clean + polished — tucked traditionally into the clip

  • Look 2: Relaxed + effortless — worn open over a tank with denim. Using the clip to create a different shape with the tank

  • Look 3: Styled + elevated — clipped to create waist definition and paired with a skirt or wide-leg trouser for a more intentional silhouette.

For Nina, style isn’t about packing more — it’s about styling smarter. From redefining proportions to reimagining silhouettes, she proves that even the simplest staple can feel entirely new with the right approach.
