Nicole Contador on Festival Styling

Denise: How would you describe your “Styling DNA” in just one sentence?

Nicole: Super easy and creative.

Denise: Festival season is around the corner—is there one outfit you’ve seen or styled on a client that felt like a true genius moment?

Nicole: I’ve absolutely been loving some of the Coachella looks from this year. Especially the looks from Camila Coelho — I love her western approach to festival fashion.

Denise:  What is your advice for remixing pieces you already own into standout festival looks?

Nicole: My advice for remixing pieces I already own would be to mix textures. Combine different fabrics like denim, lace, and mesh for a dynamic look. Use jackets and kimonos — lightweight layers can add depth to your outfit. Opt for statement pieces with unique prints or embellishments.

Denise: If you had to pack a mini festival capsule (3 tops, 2 bottoms, 3 shoes) for a long weekend, what would you bring and how would you style each look from day to night?

Nicole: If I had to pack a mini festival capsule, I’d focus on versatile staples that can be styled multiple ways.

Tops: A basic white T-shirt, a bikini top, and a bandana or graphic crop top.

Bottoms: High-waisted denim shorts and a maxi skirt.

Shoes: Utility boots, comfortable sandals, and a heeled sandal for night.

For daytime, I’d keep it effortless. The white T-shirt with denim shorts and boots is an easy base — add a lightweight kimono and crossbody bag. The bikini top works with wide-leg styling or layered under an open shirt. A bandana top with baggy jeans and boots feels relaxed but cool.

At night, it’s all about elevating with small swaps. Switch the shorts or jeans for a maxi skirt, add a leather jacket, layer statement jewelry, and change into heeled sandals. The same tops instantly feel more dressed up just by adjusting proportions and accessories.

The key is choosing pieces that mix and match easily so you can create multiple looks without overpacking.

Denise: Can you walk us through a favorite festival style hack using Kitdo that instantly elevates a look from basic to main-stage ready?

Nicole: I love turning a simple scarf into a top. I fold it into a triangle, thread the ends through the Kitdo to secure and adjust it, then tie it comfortably around my neck. It’s such an easy way to transform a basic piece into something that feels styled and main-stage ready.
