The Fall Edit with @kaseyandherklothes

By Denise Ho

Fall brings a natural moment to refresh the pieces already in your closet. Kasey of @kaseyandherklothes, a buyer and stylist, shares her approach to fall styling, personal style, transitional layering, fashion month inspiration, and using the Kitdo MagniClip to rework the pieces she already loves.

Denise: Hi Kasey! To start, how would you describe your personal style?

Kasey: My style definitely leans feminine, but I almost always like to bring in something that contrasts with that. I love a vintage floral dress with sneakers, baggy jeans with kitten heels, or something romantic paired with something a little more undone.

At the core, I’m drawn to classic pieces, and I tend to see trends as an opportunity to experiment rather than something I need to completely adopt. I always say that I don’t want to look like a specific “look,” I want to look like myself. Dressing too literally within one aesthetic can start to feel a little like a costume to me. I think the most interesting personal style comes from pulling from different references and making them your own.

Denise: What’s one look or trend you’ve been loving lately?

Kasey: I’m really into oversized sunglasses right now. I have a pair of round Prada sunglasses that my mom bought me when I was in high school, and I brought them back out this summer. I love when something you’ve had forever suddenly feels exciting again.

They make even the simplest outfit feel more intentional, whether it’s a white tank and jeans or a little dress. I also love that slightly glamorous, almost incognito feeling an oversized pair of sunglasses gives you.

Denise: What’s your go-to tip for remixing pieces you already own into fresh transitional outfits?

I really believe styling is what makes an outfit great. Rather than always looking for something new, I like taking classic pieces and changing the way I wear them.

Kasey: Tie a button-down shirt differently, layer swimwear underneath a sheer dress or skirt, or wear a lightweight evening dress with flip flops during the day.

I also think a silk scarf is such a fun accessory to experiment with during this time of year. You can wear it as a belt, around your head, on a bag, or even turn it into part of the actual outfit. Sometimes one small styling decision completely changes pieces you already own.

Denise: What’s a wardrobe dilemma you solved after adding a Kitdo clip to your looks?

Kasey: I’m tall, so I naturally gravitate toward really long skirts and dresses, but sometimes I want the option to show a little more leg or make the silhouette feel less expected. I love the idea of using the Kitdo clip to gather a long skirt or dress and create an asymmetrical hemline.

It gives me a way to make something I already love feel a little sexier and completely different without permanently altering the piece. That ability to play with proportion and shape is what I find most exciting about it.
