Rachel Song: The Multi-Hyphenate Redefining Style in Hong Kong
By Denise Ho
Stylist, model, agency co-founder: Rachel Song is a triple threat with a singular vision. Based in Hong Kong, she cultivates a unique approach to beauty—both through her own impeccable style and via d'arcom, the casting and talent agency she runs. We sat down with her to talk inspiration, attitude, and everything in between.
Kitdo: To start, could you tell us what you're wearing right now?
Rachel: A light green knit hoodie that I bought from a store in Sydney called MAILLOT, navy loose pants from a Thai brand called Co-worker, a tank top I thrifted from Carousell, and black leather clogs from a Swedish brand called Troentorp.
Kitdo: The core of styling lies in transformation. Could you tell us about a time you reinvented a garment, creating a look that felt deeply personal and unique?
Rachel: I was the stylist for the musician Rainbow Chan’s MV “Seven Sisters.” We had lots of extras and dancers to dress. Her MV explores her HK cultural identity, and the story of the Seven Sisters. I took one piece of very long red chiffon-like fabric, and draped it around the body to create a one piece long dress. I thought that was really fun, as I got to utilise my draping skills (back from my fashion university days), and how cool it was to be able to create a whole garment from a single piece of uncut cloth. It was very size versatile, and also it was easy to move in for the dancers. The colour symbolism of red was also perfect for her MV concept.
Kitdo: You wear so many hats—stylist, model, agency owner. What guides you in building a wardrobe that isn't just versatile, but can be creatively adapted to these different sides of you?
Rachel: Ever since starting to work on sets, I’ve been very attracted to versatility and comfort. I love wearing jeans, my trousers/ pants need good pockets, and I love wearing tank tops. I think I sort of created a uniform for myself. Basics, with a small design twist. I think my wardrobe encompasses all the different sides of me - it’s easily worn, easy to move around, but still cute!

Kitdo: For someone looking to develop a personal style , what would you say is the most important place to start?
Rachel: Curiosity. You need to be curious in order to find out what you like. Experiment around, see what works and doesn’t work with you. Eventually, you will come to a point where you are confident in who you are. That is when personal style really shines, as it isn’t guided by what is “trending,” but instead, a reflection of who you are at the current moment.

Kitdo: What is your favorite look you've created with Kitdo, or a go-to way of wearing it?
Rachel: I have my everyday bag, which is a black Byfar shoulder bag. Its got some metallic hardware, which I think the Kitdo really complements.
